Have you ever heard the phrase, “Rain on your wedding day is good luck?” Clark and Amber’s wedding day was a perfect example of this saying! In a surprising turn of events (or, maybe unsurprising for those familiar with North Carolina’s famously unpredictable weather) on Easter weekend, 80-degree temperatures turned cold, and it poured without stopping for nearly 36 hours. But a little rain couldn’t put a damper on Clark and Amber’s gorgeous wedding or their excitement to marry one another.
Clark and Amber met at Duke University and, as attested by the words of their friends and family, could not be more perfect for one another or more in love. Throughout their wedding day, Clark and Amber both just beamed with joy. They got ready with their bridal parties (with makeup and hair provided for the girls by the wonderful folks at Wedded Kiss Beauty) at the iconic Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club before heading to Sarah P. Duke Gardens to tie the knot, surrounded by family and friends, against a gorgeous flower arch designed by Bowerbird Flowers and Apothecary. It was especially touching to capture the looks between the couple during their wedding ceremony. These photos in particular are such a beautiful representation of the love Clark and Amber share for one another.
The couple was also adventurous enough to escape for a brief portrait session in Sarah P. Duke Gardens after the ceremony, complete with clear umbrellas that we always bring with us on rainy wedding days. The soft light of the rain-soaked garden provided a romantic backdrop for a few portraits of Clark and Amber before they joined their guests inside. We caught one of our favorite photos of the day when, on their way back inside, Clark and Amber stopped to talk and laugh with a friend outside their clear reception tent.
We were so honored to be part of Clark and Amber’s special day. It was truly a day filled with love and laughter, and it was a beautiful reminder that love can make even challenging circumstances joyful.
